Our mission and principles
Founded through a vision of Robert Gallo, we are driven to see a world where no other mother, child or family is devastated by this disease. For more than 4 years, GMAHI has been a leader in meeting urgent needs in maternal HIV and AIDS in the world’s most affected regions.
Each stage of life – brings new and different challenges, and GMAHI recognizes that ending this epidemic cannot be achieved in isolation. It requires access to prevention, treatment, and support services for all members of the family.
In 2020 and beyond, GMAHI will leverage our core expertise in service delivery, capacity building, research and advocacy to comprehensively address an evolving HIV and AIDS epidemic, and through our presence on the ground and on the global stage, we’ll advocate for the health and well-being of children as they transition into adulthood.
Our Mission
We strive for a world where there are no longer any deaths from AIDS and where mothers enjoy good sexual health. A world in which all infected mothers can love freely and without fear. We do this by working together with the people who are hit hardest by HIV, STIs, discrimination and exclusion. We strengthen their voice and support them with healthcare, information, knowledge and funding. For all that is love.

An HIV-free society where new infections are halted and people living with HIV or affected by HIV and AIDS receive quality services and support.

We strive for a world where people no longer die from AIDS and where everyone enjoys their full sexual health and is free to love fearlessly. We do this together with the women who are most affected by HIV and STIs because of discrimination and exclusion. We strengthen their voice and we support with information, knowledge and financing.
Global Coverage
The Robert Gallo Maternal Aids Healthcare Initiatives is a leading non-profit organization working to improve the health care of 2.5 million mothers infected with HIV in Lesotho, Mozambique, Tanzania, Zambia, Brazil, Guatemala, India and Sri Lanka. Working together with national partners to strengthen health systems and community capacities, we are committed to scientific evidence and policy dialogue both as foundations and objectives of our work

GMAHI is carrying out various projects that focus on awareness, testing, treatment, and prevention of HIV/AIDS among mothers and pregnant women across the globe
Project Funding
We seek to join forces with other funders in our capacity as funder, advocate, and expert. Only by working together can we accelerate the work to realise sexual health and rights for all, make sure that no one dies of AIDS, and find a cure for HIV.
